Did you know that you can find the Gospel of Jesus Christ (a.k.a. Yeshua the Messiah) in both Old and New Testaments? I use a cross-reference Bible to find parallels throughout the Bible. Almost everything you read in the New Testament has a counterpart in the Old. The terms Old and New Testaments are related to the Old and New Covenants highlighted in Jeremiah 31: 31-33, Ezekiel 36: 26-27, 2 Corinthians 3: 3, Hebrews 8: 7-12, and Hebrews 10: 16-18.
Isaiah 53: 1-12 and Psalm 22 describe the sufferings of the Messiah. Acts 8: 25-35 confirms that “the Suffering Servant” of Isaiah 53 is Jesus. Consider the following passages also:
WHO IS THE MESSIAH?
There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD (Isaiah 11: 1-2 KJV).
And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth (Revelation 5: 5-6 KJV).
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and offspring of David, and the bright and morning star (Revelation 22: 16 KJV).
GOD HAS A SON
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee (Psalm 2: 7 KJV).
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? (Hebrews 1: 5 KJV).
ALL HAVE SINNED
Hear my prayer, O LORD, Give ear to my supplications! Answer me in Thy faithfulness, in Thy righteousness! And do not enter into judgment with Thy servant, For in Thy sight no man living is righteous (Psalm 143 KJV).
God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God. Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one (Psalm 53: 2-3 KJV).
As it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE” (Romans 3: 10-12 KJV).
THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH
“For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God. “Therefore, repent and live” (Ezekiel 18: 32 NASB).
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6: 23 NASB).
WITHOUT THE SHEDDING OF BLOOD THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS OF SIN
‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement’ (Leviticus 17: 11 NASB).
And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness (Hebrews 9: 22 NASB).
BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1: 29 KJV).
Your lamb shall be without blemish a male of the first year; ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats; And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it (Exodus 12: 5-8 KJV).
And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste; it is the LORD’s passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. And the blood shall be to you for as token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will passover you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt (Exodus 12: 11-13 KJV).
For this is the blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins (Matthew 26: 28 KJV).
Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us (I Corinthians 5: 6-7 KJV).
He keeps his bones not one of them is broken (Psalm 34: 20 NASB).
“And I will pour out on the House of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping over a first-born” (Zechariah 12: 10 NASB).
For these things came to pass, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN.” And again another Scripture says, “THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED” (John 19: 36-37 NASB).
NO MORE DEATH
He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, and He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken (Isaiah 25: 8-9 NASB).
And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them, and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away (Revelation 21: 3-4 NASB).
