The Spirit-Driven Life

Inscription over the front door of 20, Stortorget, Gamla stan, Stockholm quoting Psalm 37:5 in German: “Befiehl dem Herrn deine Wege und hoffe auf ihn, er wirds wohl machen”. English tranlation: “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.” (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22: 37-40 KJV).

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy the law, or the  prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  ( Matthew 5: 17-20 KJV)

Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37: 4 NASB)

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (James 4: 8 NASB)

Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. (Psalm 37: 5 NASB)

The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps. (Proverbs 16: 9 NASB)

Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. (James 4: 10 NASB)

My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121: 2 NASB)

I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. (Psalm 32: 8 NASB)

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  (Matthew 12: 36 KJV)

Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD. (Psalm 27: 14 NASB)

Indeed God speaks once, Or twice, yet no one notices it.  In a dream, a vision of the night, when sound sleep falls on men, While they slumber in their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction. (Job 33: 14-16 NASB)

  1. Thank you for sharing the Word of God. I enjoyed this article, The Spirit-Driven Life.

God is as close to us as we want him to be..

I know you have heard the saying, ” Man can not live by bread alone.” We must have Food for the Soul – The Word of God.

These are very powerful words Jesus spoke and their are many Commandments throughout the Bible. Take a few minutes and think about the words, All Your Heart, All your Soul and All Your Mind..

Matthew 22:37-40 The Two Greatest Commandments: (King James Version)

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

    Idle Words and Thoughts

    Matthew 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

    Matthew 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

    Matthew 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

    1. Great verses, Michael. Not only that but you gave me confirmation this morning (and I know the Holy Spirit led you). Here’s why: Seconds before I read your reply, the Two Greatest Commandents came to mind and couldn’t recall where they were in the Bible. I wanted to put them at the top of my list of verses under “The Spirit-Driven Life.” And then I looked down and saw your reply with the answer to my question:

“Matthew 22:37-40 The Two Greatest Commandments: (King James Version).

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Indeed, I have been pondering the Two Greatest Commandments (especially the First) for weeks, Michael, and thinking about how they appliy to me. I’ve been examining my life, identifying things (materialism, for example) that prevent me from loving God with ALL of my heart, mind, and soul.

Thank you for following the nudging of the Holy Spirit. It reaffirms my trust in God. Have a blessed day.
